Tactical Armored Defense Vehicle

This 3D tactical armored vehicle is designed in great detail to use in military-themed or action-type video games. The vehicle was modeled in Blender with a clean hard-surface topology and then had textures painted on it using Substance Painter with realistic PBR materials. The final model was optimized for use with Unreal Engine so that it would integrate seamlessly. The completed vehicle has been made as an asset ready for usage in first-person shooter games, for tactical combat simulations, and in large-scale open-world warfare games. 

  • This model was created for using Blender with proper accurate and precise hard-surface modeling. 
  • The model's texture was done for using Substance Painter, as well as physically based realistic materials that represent wear and tear. 
  • This part of the process also included research and gathering references, creating accurate models, texturing, and optimizing the engine. 
  • I created LODs and collision meshes to allow for real-time gameplay. 

Process

The tactical armored defense vehicle’s development started with extensive research & gathering of numerous references so the design would be accurate to reality. Once the references were collected, the vehicle was created using Blender’s precise hard surface modeling tools, with an emphasis on building the cleanest topology & having a complete, detailed mechanical structure. There was a special emphasis on keeping geometry as optimized as possible for use in real-time rendering. This ensures that all the details of the intricate designs are maintained. 

The next step was properly UV mapping the model so it could be textured and had a base material applied to it. Any type of wear, weathering, or other realism that could be added to the textures using Substance Painter before importing the asset into Unreal Engine ensures the final design is a fully functional, high-quality vehicle asset ready for use in first-person shooter, combat simulation, or massive, open-world military-style games.

We were impressed with optimized and game-ready the asset. The modular design easily allowed us to customize layouts, which saved a lot of development time on our part. New life into the work of art!
