Stylized Fantasy Sword

The sword was designed with a stylish fantasy look in mind, so it can be used in both games as a weapon and in real-time applications. The sword includes the weapon's features, optimally designed geometry with a clean topology, detailed textures using PBR (physically based rendering), and an additional layer of emissive texture for a unique visual flair. The sword is fully featured and optimized for use by players in any type of action or role-playing game, and it has been created to be very performant in real time.

Process

The development of the Stylized Fantasy Sword starts with a concept creation and a visual plan that helps create an appealing and unique fantasy design. The concept is then used for constructing a 3D model in Blender that balances stylized visuals and clean/optimized topology. A low-poly mesh is used for constructing the re-scaling factor needed to allow the texture of the sword to be real-time while keeping the details required for the sword. Proper UV mapping is done to maximize the effectiveness of the texture and to make sure that the visual elements are aligned properly throughout the model. 

Once the model of the sword is made, it is then textured in Substance Painter. Using high-quality PBR materials and emissive materials provides the sword with a higher quality/realistic look. The final steps of the sword are testing to optimize the performance of the asset and make sure that it renders smoothly and will be able to be used for the intended purpose. The end result is a fully optimized, game-ready asset that is suitable for a fantasy, action, or RPG-based game. 

The communication was excellent, and there were no issues with the workflow leading to a timely delivery of the final asset in all the requested formats and complete for use. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!.
